Whale Safari Guides

Whale Safari Guides

Species seen today: Humpback Whale, Minke Whales and White-beaked Dolphins.

10:00 - Today was incredible, probably the second calmest ocean day this month and we love these easy weather days and today obviously the wildife did too. We set off and within 20mins we came to the larger whale watching vessels that had seen 3 humpback whales together (Mariupol, Neila and one other) and a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins. They were all playing together, rolling around and criss crossing each other.  We stayed for a while barely moving as we watching the whales playing. We had already been with these for a while but saw more life in the distance. We saw a few minke whales but they were more elusive and only surfacing once, quickly and were gone. We had a quick look at the humpbacks again, which were now at the that time sleeping before we headed back to port. Incredible.

14:00 - The wind (little as it was this morning) had calmed further creating some beautiful reflections on the waters surface. Soon we found a very large pod of at least 20-30 scattered white-beaked dolphins that obviously were very sociable with each other and us too. Then we went looking for minke whales and saw 4-5 but again they were quite elusive and difficult to see properly but we got a few nice and close sightings. A little later we headed to the humpback whales, which at that time had few boats around them. Once arriving we were pretty much alone with the trio (Neila, Mariupol and 1 unknown) and we had the most memorable iteraction with two of them that came to our boat to be curious, just 3-4 meters away, one circle and where once again gone. Just amazing. Put a smile on our face for a long time.
