Whale Safari Guides

Whale Safari Guides

Species seen today: humpback whale, minke whale, white beaked dolphin, harbour porpoise

After several days of cancelled trips, weather conditions finally improved this morning enabling us to go out on some whale watching trips. The skies were slightly overcast and the sea a little choppy but big flocks of feeding birds were around, which lead us towards minke whales feeding underneath. We also spotted humpback blows and it seemed there were at least four individuals in the Bay. Some were hard to follow but one of our boats was lucky enough to have a humpback surface very close. Our passengers got the fantastic experience of being covered in whale blow! Our later trips also spotted minke whales and several small pods of white beaked dolphins, including family groups. They also saw a couple of lovely humpback flukes and were treated to a large minke surfacing very close to the boat. Unfortunately deteriorating weather conditions meant the cancellation of our later afternoon and evening trips, but we are hopeful for better weather tomorrow!
