Whale Safari Guides

Species seen today: harbour porpoises, white-beaked dolphins, minke whales, humpback whales

Today was a busy day! Finally, the wind died down and we had flat, calm seas. Conditions would have been perfect for spotting wildlife but we had fog drifting throughout the day which made it a little harder. In the morning, we had whale watching tours at 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00. We saw all four species that we usually find in the bay in the morning. We saw very acrobatic jumping dolphins, lunge feeding minkes and a sleepy humpback as well as a rare sighting of some porpoises logging at the surface of the water. In the afternoon, the fog intensified a bit but we were had tours sailing at 15:00, 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00. In the afternoon, we saw plenty of minkes and lots of dolphins again. The minkes were still feeding under large flocks of birds and the dolphins were very interactive with our boats, jumping around and bow riding. Unfortunately, no whales or dolphins were sighted on our 20:00 tour, but passengers were given complimentary tickets to come another time and try again.
