Whale Safari Guides

Species seen today: Humpback whale, Minke whale

Today we had approx.1.5 m swell, but the visibility was great and the wind was mild. We were lucky to have found animals very close to the shore, after just 10-15 minutes drive! The first animal we spotted on our morning tour was a humpback whale. While waiting for the humpback to surface up from its dive, we spotted a smaller minke whale, just in front of us. We decided  not to move and see if it would approach. It did! Soon the little juvenile minke became the star of the tour! It playfully surfed the waves and circled multiple times around our boat, spy hopping and looking at us above the surface, showing its belly and making bubbles toward us, like it wants to include us in its play! A juvenile minke, possibly another individual, was also the star of our midday tour, displaying similar behaviour! Besides minkes, on all of the tours we also saw full sized humpbacks, of which some of them fluking up regulary and surfacing up very close to our boat. A lot of puffins fishing out in the ocean as well! An amazing day for all that joined us!!!
